John Kirkland OBE
Horsley Village Hall Management Committee are saddened to learn of the passing of our President, John Kirkland OBE.
Following John's move to live in Horsley, he was pleased to become the first President of the Hall and gave us considerable help with various problems during the building of the new Village Hall. He will be sadly missed.
John has spent considerable time in America recently with his partner and after a short illness there, did not recover after slipping into a coma.
His considerable influence helped Bowmer and Kirkland to become the successful business it is today and was chairman for over 30 years. He was an avid Derby County supporter and a member of the Board of Directors during the successful Arthur Cox era and the move to Pride Park.
John received his OBE for services to Derbyshire and particularly for his work as chairman of the Derbyshire Ambulance Service.
Horsley Village Hall Management Committee wish to pass on deepest condolences to John's family and friends at this very difficult time
